About Us

Our Church:

Amherst Presbyterian Church was founded in 1888 in the city of Buffalo.  It was then called The Second United Presbyterian Church.  We moved to Amherst in 1957 from our building on Humboldt Parkway. We changed our name to Amherst Presbyterian in 1986.  While we have enjoyed an interesting History, we are more concerned with the present and the future.  We seek to worship God, follow Jesus Christ our Lord and Savior, and minister to our members and the larger community around us.   We support a wide variety of mission at Amherst Presbyterian. Along with many other local and national charities, some examples of missions we support are:

FeedMore WNY(formerly The Food Bank and Meals on Wheels)
Habitat for Humanity
The Family Justice Center
Heifer International

Our Mission Statement:

Amherst Presbyterian Church is a living part of the Body of Christ, a safe, non-judging place to experience God.  As a part of the Body, we want to discover and use our spiritual gifts more fully, provide hands-on mission opportunities for all ages, and strengthen our fellowship connections for all ages.  As a place to experience God, we want to make our worship more inclusive and offer study opportunities for everyone to apply faith to everyday life.
